The ESPN X Games Year Six

Welcome to the 2000 ESPN X Games in San Francisco. This will be our sixth annual X Games, that's right - sixth! We've seen our athletes grow up to become television celebrities, get married and have children, compete in the Olympics, star in video games, visit the White House, and even retire. We feel as though the X Games has grown up right along with them.

The X Games is first-and-foremost a celebration. The event is a celebration of eye-opening athleticism and of the coming of a new age of sports that thrives not entirely on competition, but creativity, determination and internal strength as well. The athletes competing in the X Games are not judged by how far they can throw a ball, how well they shoot a jump shot or how fast they run around a track. At the X Games we celebrate athletes who have repeatedly picked themselves off the pavement in pursuit of a mastered trick. We celebrate athletes who have chosen to shine in a sport that is outside of the mainstream spotlight because they simply love it - they love to ride, climb, skate, jump and they love to cheer on their rivals beside them.

We encourage you to cheer right along with them online with results, updates, streaming video, and a live webcast of Skateboarding Best Trick Sunday Aug. 20 from 5-6PM right here on EXPN.com.
