We arrived home (OKC) around 7:30pm. My baby will be asleep by 8pm, so it’s a race against time to see her before she crashes out. I make it in the nick of time to read her a story and put her to bed… nice.

Well, I can barely move, now because something is going on with my rib. Sleep is getting difficult… it’s time to go to the doctor. I went to the doctor and found out I separated my rib from my sternum. That’s a new one. I have a week left on the tour, so there’s no real time to heal. My doctor suggested a shot of cortisone, and I accepted. I’ve heard a lot about cortisone, but I never experimented with its power. I had it shot into my shoulder once, but I had torn my rotator cuff completely off the humerus head, so it didn’t do much, but this time it turned me into a new man. I may have a new best friend (just kidding… kinda). My doctor said I need to take a couple weeks off, so I’m going to try and at least take a couple days off.

I get to HB and the party is already in effect. It looks like most of the posse is pretty worn out, so I think this is going to be a recuperating day. I wish I could ride my home vert ramp, and the new street section Nate built, but I guess I can’t, so I’ll try and put that out of my mind. I get some good news, though, Outback Steakhouse is hooking us up with free food. I’m not sure how this happened, but I’m not arguing. We all have a big meal and check out a pre-preview of the new HB video “Testimony.” I’m so stoked how this video is coming together. We watched my part, Seth’s part and Bryan Tunney’s part. I like-a the juice! After we have a screening of the vid, Psycho’s band is in the house and ready to rock. They rule. They played on in the park and, man, I wish I could have ridden while they played. I had too much energy, but I only have two days to heal, so I kept cool. The party went on and on.

Nate Wessels comes up for air.

Mark Lewman “Lew” came to town. Most of you guys out there probably know how much Lew has contributed to our sport. I’m writing a book right now, and couldn’t think of a better person to help me. For some of you out there who are wondering “Lew who?”, here are some hints: Freestylin’, Go, Homeboy mag, Club Homeboy, Dirt, Grand Royal Magazine, High Octane, Lambesis… he’s the man.

For this second ½ of the tour, it looks like I’ll be directing a tv show, scheduling and managing the tour, riding and writing a book with Lew in-between it all. This is going to be a rough week.

Over and out- Mat
